Hello I know and have redone both pcs and macs a bunch of times but I need help bad!!!!

I have a dell pc that I am trying to do a clean reinstall and everytime I format and delete the partitioned space this damn windows machine tells me that the hard drive space is only 2gb when in fact the hard drive is 20gb's big.

What the heck is going on if I totally format or erase the harddrive should'nt there be at least 20gb's left why is it continously telling me that I have only a 2gb hard drive. I told a friend I could do this cause I did it a bunch of times before and this computer just wont work with me here.

Arrggg this is why I am a mac guy, I have been at it all day with the pc :-(

Please if anyone can help!!!

I would question whether the problem is with the machine... =P =D

Check for multiple partitions - right-click on the My Computer icon on the desktop and click manage. Look for Disk Management under storage. It will show "disk 0" on the left, which is a physical disk, and it will tell you how big it is (20 gb?). It will also show you 0 or more partitions on the right, and how big each is, and how it's formatted (FAT32 or NTFS probably).

You might just take a screenshot of that and post it.

You should be formatting using NTFS, the FAT will show a smaller hard drive

It does sound like your physical drive is partitioned into several logical drives. The windows installer should have the ability to repartition the drive before it installs. If you are choosing FAT 16 as the file system, then you have a 2GB size limit. As previously mentioned, use NTFS as your file system.
