Looking for someone to help create that "cartoonish" look with HDR. This is the only photo I have to work with. It is of a young band that is looking for a new look.
Thanks!

Hard to work on such a small file but here's a quick edit. If I had the original I could a better job for you

yeah...photomatix is not working good for me...neither is Redynamix plugin for CS3. I either need to learn more or find something new to use.

you don't need other programs, you need a bracketed image set of multiple exposures. you can only get so much out of tone mapping a single image.
Try photoshop actions instead. |

I've tried changing exposure in lightroom first with single photos...just not the same. I only got emailed this small photo to work with...so I was not able to control the shooting situation.

even changing exposures won't get you the tonal range needed to get really crazy with it. common misconception that you can do full on HDR work w/ 1 exposure changed a few different ways. You cannot create info that was never captured ie. the details in the shadows and highlights.
oversharpening in photoshop can give an "HDR" kind of look but its not nearly as good. |
