I have just ordered a Kenko 1.4 300 Pro teleconverter (canon) for my 70-200 f4 IS.
Does anyone have experience with them ? I read somewhere that you had to attach it to the camera in a certain order or the AF didn't work (I don't know if this is true).
Does it make any difference if you attach it to the lens first and then the camera ? Or the camera - then attach the lens? (sounds weird I know - but I remember reading it somewhere).
Also - how bad is the AF when you are shooting into vegetation (birds in trees etc) ?
Anyone used one?

You'll loose one stop on your lens, so your f/4 will turn into f/5.6, but should still work.

From Kenko's website:
With the PRO 300 1.4x, full AF operation is possible with camera lenses having a maximum aperture of F4 or brighter.

and:

Most Canon EOS camera bodies are programmed to shut down auto focus if the calculated effective aperture for the lens and teleconverter is smaller than f/5.6, the Kenko Teleplus PRO 300 converters work the same way.

So in a nutshell, you'll be able to use AF on that lens at f 5.6, provided there's enough light and contrast to the subject for the AF sensors to activate. Just set the camera to Av and set aperture to 5.6.

I would mount it on the lens first, so you don't leave the camera body open to dust longer than need be.

Hope that helps, have fun!
