I'm not yet skilled in commercial usage of fonts... we're trying to make new business cards & signage, and have found a font we REALLY like. Problem is, we don't know which format to use:

Is Type 1 / Postscript a universal font, or should we stick with TrueType?
If you've had dealings with FontHaus.com, were you happy about it?
Any other words of wisdom?

Thanks everyone!

If you are working with a PostScript printer and/or PDF files, then Type 1 fonts are good. But modern TrueType fonts usually work just about as well. It somewhat depends on what platform and software you are using, and the eventual output format. If you are only using Photoshop and making photographic prints it hardly matters. If you want to lay out an art magazine using InDesign or Quark you may need to be more careful ...

If you are using Illustrator to lay out a one-page ad or sign, I suggest creating outlines of your fonts in the version (copy) you use for output -- this will turn all of the font glyphs (characters) into individual graphics and eliminates most font-related output errors.
