Hi,

I was wondering why I wasn't notified that my membership was coming up for renewal and only got an e-mail saying that it had expired. My portfolio and all my prints on dpcprints are gone. If I do decide to renew - will I have to re-upload all of my prints and relist them for sale?

I still see them.

I believe that when you are a member, your member information shows up in your profile. It will say something like "member details november 16 2003-November 16 2004". Actually a daily reminder of when your membership expires.
Ok...scratch that idea...the "member details" only shows up when I'm logged in as a Site Council member. My apologies.

Thanks for replying faidoi. Where can you see them? I tried my portfolio which brings me to a page about becoming a member, and I don't see them on dpcprints. I just see what was on my profile page. I had quite a few in my portfolio:(

Yes, I did just check my profile, but the membership is when I first registered, not when I began a paid membership. Even if it is there to see all the time, I'm afraid I just assume that when something is up for renewal you get a notice ahead of time. Maybe I should be more aware, but I think everyone's really busy these days and a tickler system with reminders would be easy to add to the system. If my portfolio is still there I would not be upset, I would probably just renew. But if everything has been deleted I would be upset:(

I agree with BJ, there should be notification that membership is about to expire. Even though the date of membership expiration is in the profile page, I never pay attention to that field, I also assume there will be a notice sent to me.

I see your portfolio under your profile. There are many images in it, and so I presume you haven't lost anything. I don't see you on DPCprints, but I am sure that's just a matter of a software switch, and when you renew, you will be back to where you were.

Thanks - I hope it is still there. I was just getting ready to upload a bunch a prints to dpcprints for sale, and don't want to reload the prints I already had in my portfolio (I have a very frustrating dial-up connection because I'm in a rural area!) Kinda of ironic - my husband just bought me a tripod and I just printed a lot of business cards for dpcprints - so I hope everything works out with this! I also hope I didn't lose my url that's on my cards. Again, I hate to rant here, but I don't think this is the way renewal memberships should be treated. There's many automated systems on this site for e-mails, so I would think it would be very easy to add a renewal reminder - but then again I'm not a computer systems person:)

Same thing happened to me when my membership ran out a few months ago. I quickly paid up my new dues, and "VOILA!", everything (portfolio and prints) were back.

Thanks for the post - read it earlier today in work but couldn't log in there to reply. Also, just to let everyone know, I got a really nice e-mail from Drew explaining that they are working on a reminder notice script and he also assured me all of my portfolio will be available when I renew. Thanks again.
