I thought I would share my âstupid thing I did todayâ I got home from work early today and thought to myself perfect, I can get todays make-up pic over with early! So I get this wacky idea to try and make a make-up clock. I realize that I need to get right above the set up (which I stupidly had already set up on the table).
So I decide to take my boots off while already standing on a chair and then climb up and stand on the table with the tripod over the set up pointing straight down. Well that was the plan. I have these new knee high boots that are hell to get on and off ... I am standing on the chair trying to take them off, why I don't know! One gets stuck half on half off, I'm hopping on the chair like a twit, lose my balance reach out for the tripod again stupidly because it was the first thing in reach.
Needless to say I went crashing to the ground along with the tripod camera attached the set up the light box and the backdrop! Ruined the light box! I am too scared to see if I've damaged the camera and the set up looked like a bomb explosion.
So I'll give it a miss tonight and make up (pardon the pun) for it tomorrow, while I nurse my now very sore wrist which was already hurting from other reasons and sore butt! |

Ssdly I can totally see myself doing something like that. This is why things are better done in the morning after some strong coffee, when your brain is working (somewhat) properly :P

Oops, I hope your wrist and camera are ok. Sorry about the lightbox. *hugs*
I had my own non-photography brain fart earlier this evening. I got hungry and decided to try a new boxed BBQ beef dinner I found at the store. No veggies with it so I made some beans, took it all back to my bed room and noticed my camera was in the way to set down beef, so I set down the beans and set the beef on my work table behind me...
Almost half-hour later I noticed my stomach growling more than it had been, and I noticed the smell of bbq beef in the air, and thought to myself, mmm, that smells really good. Damn I need to make something to eat, hey who is cooking at this hour. I want whatever they have. I looked down at the bowl of beans and thought oh, I have beans, those are kinda boring by themselves. What can I have to eat.
The A/C turned on and stirred the air, the smell increased. I thought damn I want some of that! Got up to go check the kitchen, and it was then I noticed my food getting cold behind me. LOL. I have no idea what the hell broke in my head. Needless to say I enjoyed my meal, once I had remembered I had one, LOL.

Wow the things we do to get a shot. Sounds like it would have been interesting. Glad to hear you are not seriously injured. You are not stupid. We have all done it. Hugs

At least you are able to type, and didn't die or something. Things are just things, they can be replaced, bones can heal, a shot can be taken again, but nothing can replace a life. Be thankful you are mostly ok, and just let this be a wakeup call, shoot some nudes, hug someone, and be happy, it wasn't your time to go, so there must be something still worth seeing and photographing. :)

True togtog, I've been in agony all day with my wrist. I can use my hand but doing anything with it at all is really painful. My wrist aches just laying still. I have broken this same wrist before and I think maybe just maybe I might have again. I'm waiting to see if the pain dies down in a few days if not XRAY time :(( |

I am happy that your fall didn't put you in the hospital, or even worse. I think we all do things that don't make a lot of sense once in a while.
Good luck with your recovery. I hope that your camera is ok where you can shoot a post a shot of the disaster scene for us.
Again, glad to hear that you are going to be all right, though it may take a while.
Maybe a shot from one of my "duh, what was I thinking" moments will bring you a smile for a minute. What worries me now is that I want to go back and shoot the scene again, and do a better job of getting focus and settings right.

If you think even for a moment it is broken go to the ER, don't wait for a doctor. It can set improperly and be prone to reinjuring in the future.
I am very sorry you were injured *hugs again*. Get yourself checked out!

You crazy woman lol. I've been following along with your makeup pics and they've been fun to see. This one obviously was going to be out of this world. :) I hope you go get that wrist checked out and that everything is ok! |

Really sorry for your wrist and butt. These stupidest things really do happen when photographing: I try to remember this whenever I pick up my camera! I also suspect that my first instinct in a dangerous situation is to save the camera not myself. |

This reminds me of a cartoon I barely remember from childhood. A boy was interested in becoming a photo-journalist / photographer. His father gave him his old camera to play with. While together in the woods he went running after something to get its picture, then tripped and rolled down a hill into a stream, despite being under the water he kept holding the camera above the water until he could get out. The father congratulated him on not only getting the shot but putting the camera and the shot first. And said he was going to make a great photographer.
Dang I wish I remembered what cartoon that was from specifically. :)

Holy cripes!! You're lucky you didn't get more seriously hurt. Hope your wrist and butt are okay.
Interestingly (at least to me) my wife was reading this over my shoulder. Her first response was- "She's lucky she didn't break her neck." Her second response- "Wonder what kind of boots they were?" Yes, this explains why the lower third of our walk in closet is devoted to my wifes shoes.
