The key word here is team. The photog documented the team and not the individual player. The player and the mom in this situation should remember that and not take the issue personally. I'm sure the league also has rules pertaining to what is allowed and what is not concerning photography. The photographer was mandated by the league, or given permission, to document an event where two teams were playing a game of soccer. Totally legal.
