I used da Protector overlay on my 300d and it it worked fine.
I've read at a few places that the 40d LCD is very hard to scratch and that you don't even need a protector. Others say that the outermost part/layer is the protector and can be removed w/ a section cup and you can buy/install the new part from canon for $15 if it's scratched.
I put one of the Fellows PDA overlays on it, that I use for my GPS, but it made the 40d screen look much cloudier / blurry. Definitely not going to use it long term. I also looked at hoodman, but it seems a pain to constantly flip that thing up when you want to take a photo.
Any suggestions? What do you folks use, if anything?

personally I don't use anything ... part of my reason for upgrading to the 40d was the screen so I don't want to limit the view.
I can't believe that it would be easy to scratch, just be careful if you have a center zip and the camera around your neck, otherwise there is not much to scratch it |

| You might find this thread interesting. I get makeup all over mine and it gets bumped all over the place, but no scratches to date. The LCD screen is pretty tough. |

I never had any protection on my cameras - 300D had 25,000 shots on it, my 30D over 60,000, 40D over 15,000 - not a mark on any of them. And I use my neck strap so the back of the camera is rubbing on my shirt/coat all the time.
Screen seems to be the same material covering it as my GPS that I take hiking and geocaching and keep in a bag with all sorts of crap, have dropped, my kids have used it and it's 3+ years old - and not a mark on the screen.

same here: not a scratch on the 300D, 30D or 5D.
Canon's LCD-screens are familiar with their strength ;) |

Never a problem on my 20D either. Screen is VERY resistant to casual contact. I might want a protector if I was doing "extreme" photography in the field, and there was a chance the camera would take a rap on something hard, but for routine work I don't see the need for it.
