This just started happening yesterday but when I have my intervelometer plugged into the 5D, I go to press the shutter half way in and the picture takes. It should wait until I press the shutter all the way in. (same thing happens with the trigger on the intervelometer) When I take off the intervelometer it works fine, meaning something's obviously wrong with the intervelometer. I tried removing the intervelometer's battery while still having it plugged into the camera, and even with the intervelometer essentially "dead" the camera still fires too soon. Any idea what's going on? I'm going on a week-long camping trip tomorrow and I'd hate to have this problem the whole time!!

I assume you mean a remote trigger?

Ok. I have a simular problem too, but only sometimes. The camera wants to focus, even though I'm not holding that button.

Make sure the button (and the area around and beneath it) is clean. Sometimes I just press it very hard, haha, hoping it helps. It usually doesn't ;)

For the rest I can't really help you, my technics are BAD ;)

It sounds like it could be a short between two of the wires on the remote. If they are electrically connected to the shutter button on the camera, a short on the remote would cause the same behavior on the camera button when it is plugged in.

Now for the less serious answer: just fire it off a bunch before you go on your trip and maybe it will buy you some time before prematurely firing when it counts! Or you can try thinking about baseball...

Well I just decided that I don't want to have to deal with it, so I went to the store and bought a new one. Anyone want to buy a shutter release? :) It works fine but the timer part doesn't work, and it fires when you push half way down.

Thanks to both of you for your help and ideas!

Hmmm, premature actuation and a nasty case of pronoun phobia. You're doomed...

I have a TC-80N3 and I've never had a problem with it. I use it all the time too.

Are you sure that you're using it as a remote switch, and not a timer set to a very short interval?
