I'm trying some selective desat techniques. Any tips for working with selections? Mine always look jagged. I do feather them one pixel, but maybe there are some other strategies. Thanks again.

Make sure you have anti-alising turned on. That will do a lot to eliminate jaggies.

You may feather them by one pixel, but how large of area are you working with? You may need a much larger feather. Personally I use around 5-10 depending on the line I want. Sometimes larger, but hardly ever smaller unless it is around fine detail like strands of hair.

If you use Photoshop, try quick mask, which lets you use a brush to paint in your selection. Set it o 0% hardness and the light edges will be partially selected like feathering.

A question I would like the answers to too. So I am enthusiastically reading the replies to this post as well.

Thanks to all. I did up my feathering to three to five pixels, and I always use anti-alisaing. I think part of the problem was that I ran USM on my selection, which enhanced the edges of the selection. HPS was much friendlier.
