Not private at all! Bobster finally got his Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-10. He's been waiting a long time for them to reach the UK. Meanwhile I've filled the FZ-10 gallery. I've been hoping for somebody to post some nice pix so my first clumsy tries can retire! Of course I could delete them, but what fun would that be??

So how do you like it? I saw one early on (maybe October or November, I forget exactly when) at Frys, and got to try it a little in the store. That image stabalization was a very nice feature, and seemed to work well what little I could test. But then they disappeared from the store and I got impatient and went with the G5. |

I'm beginning to like it quite a bit now. I think my learning curve was a little steep, but I've had lots of help from the crew on DPreview Panasonic forum. Without that I'd have probably sent it back. You couldn't pry it from my grip, now, though! 8-) The G5 is a nice camera, though. My daughter has one and gets tons of great botanical photos along with regular stuff. I might have gone for one, but she won't share hers long enough to get a feel for it.
I did have a FZ-10 to try for a little while. A fellow in Ireland bought it and had it shipped to me so I could ship it to him. The US company would take his credit card money but wouldn't do an international ship. Of course, I had to make sure everything worked all right before sending it to Ireland! 8-) That sealed the deal for me.

It's not too hard to find one for under $500 now. I think mine was $499 last December, but I got the 256mb Panasonic SD card. I'm glad I went the distance for the Pana card, it's way faster than most of the others, the burst mode kicks butt!
