I finally got my Nikon D40! I have been talking about getting a dslr for years, butkept chickening out. I am soooooo happy :). I was able to use my cousins while back & it was like I was bit by the bug, hehehe, I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I kept loooking at my p&s cameras (not that I don't like them at all) but I was actually getting depressed. My hubby bought for me today after work. He took a shot with it & was impressed. I know we made a great investment.
I just had to share! |

Congrats! I share your excitement as I also am a recent new owner of a D40, my first digital SLR.
I've been having a great time using it. Just started entering challenges on this site since I got it.

Nikon forever! oh and congrats! :) I couldn't believe the feeling the first moment I picked up an SLR as well.
And to think, I have a 'scam' salesman to thank for getting me to switch, lol. but that is a story for another time. :) |

| Hehehe... yes I can't wait. I will be taking some photos tomorrow so I should have something to post. I will also have to renew my membership here... I didn't this last time around, I think I got depressed after using my cousins camera & just couldn't find myself to pick up my p&s and shoot creatively. I know that sounds so sad, pretty pathetic actually..... but true. I guess it's the photographers equivalent to writers block! |

Trying to compete in a couple of challenges every month is a very good way of getting over photographer's block, it forces you to go and take pictures of things you normally wouldn't have thought of.
I have no decent boats near me, but still managed to get one into the recent challenge.

My condolences on your recent Nikon purchase...
just joking :) the d40 is a great camera, and I can't wait to see some shots you take with it! the DSLR world is night and day to shooting with a P&S, so have fun! I started out w/ P&Ss just like everyone I suppose, and they were wonderful. 3-dslr later, I'll never go back!
Again, can't wait to see some of your shots with it!
