So I feel kinda bad cuz I haven't been around alot lately, and now I'm only here to post a question...

I shot with two models this morning, everything went really well except it was in broad daylight, which I know is a big no-no, but there was no choice. Anywho, I've got some pretty deep shadows under the eyes and nose, and I've been trying desperately to bring them out. I realize I can't make them go away completely, which is good cuz they add depth. So far I've tried selected just the shadow and adding an exposure mask to it, but thats hard as hell to make look good, any suggestions?

be sure to use the exposure mask on a separate layer and then try a guassian blur and adjust your opacity

This tutorial might help a little.

If the shadows are small you can duplicate the layer, clone out the shadows and than reduce the opacity of the clone layer. That way, you still have the shadows, but they're not so dark.

Before you try anything with touch-up, try the Image | Adjustments | Shadows/Highlights dialog. You can lighten shadows and darken highlights with this nifty tool.

However, it's a destructive tool (not an adjustment layer), so you'll need to either work on a layer copy, or create a smart object layer.

I've made it my CTRL-F11 shortcut and have it automatically default to 10% brighten/darken with preview on. Then I adjust to see how it looks and just commit the change, but that's me. :)

Give it a shot.
