		| | I just received this email - does it sound fishy to anyone? What would YOU do?

 Hi,

I am a researcher and came across your pic of cows on smugmug and were wondering if you would grant permission to use your pic. It would be in a book about farm animals with a humanine view point. It's in the early stages.

 Thanks-
 Dana

ETA: I did email her back asking for more info, and asking if I would get photo credit, but am waiting for a reply.

		| | I would e-mail him/her back and ask for more information. What's the number of publications, How large do they need the file to be, Do I have to do any editing to the work, Etc... Don't sign anything or even imply permissions until you decide if they are legit. If they are for real, he/she will be happy to answer any questions you have.
 Good luck!!

		| | It doesn't set off any blatant 'scam' alert alarms for me. |

		| | Just sounds like part of a company sent out to find pictures. More like a first contact email to find pics that they have permission for, then be able to give the choices to the person who makes the decisions. |

		| | 'humanine" doesn't ring any bells? |

		| | well, it sounds fine to me. She has emailed me back already, saying that she will find out the size that the file needs to be, and that I will get credit, and a copy of the book. Cool!!! I never thought that someone would want to use MY photo for something like that! Sweeeeet!
 :)

 Thanks for your responses!!!

		| | Try to get some money out of it awhile you're at it. Wouldn't hurt to make a little cash as well, right?
