Just wanted to share.

I always trumpeted around here with joy and happines. I also realized that I have been here for 5 years...I should be more active and take more pictures NOW I HAVE A 40D tralala tralala tralala

Grats on you new baby ;)

I thought about getting the grip but still on the fence as the dam batteries seem to last forever, I shot for a day and a half on a reportedly low battery according to the camera, it just seemed to keep going and going...

i'm in the same boat. I shot a 4 hour wrestling show on one battery, and did an hour of studio stuff before backstage. It was on low battery at the end of the night but this is still pretty remarkable from a single charge, and this was from the official battery that is far weaker than my other ones! Sterlingtek forever!

So all good news. I do not need a hand grip. I am still testing...

For those of you who had 30Ds before you upgraded to the 40D, what are your thoughts comparing the two cameras? I have a 30D and, frankly, it's a much better camera than I am a photographer! So I'm wondering whether upgrading is worth it for me yet. Maybe I should wait three years or so for the 50D to replace the 40D. Hopefully, by then, my pictures will be good enough to justify upgrading! I've read many reviews of the 40D, but, really, how much better is it than the 30D? What, in your mind, makes it worth spending the extra money? I know I like the idea of a self-cleaning sensor. Two more MP is nice. But neither of these is really that important to me to justify the expense. So, what else is it about the 40D that makes it better than the 30D? Thanks.

I own both and the one huge difference is the noise at higher ISO and frames per second. Since I shoot wildlife early and late sometimes that is a huge deal for me. I have also been doing some weddings as of late and the noise control at higher ISO will be a huge benefit over my 30D and 20D. I wouldn't have bought it but my wife got it for me as a fathers day gift and with the reasoning that we have a few more weddings this year and it would be a good idea to have her and I shoot with the 40D and 30D and have the 20D as backup. If you feel that your camera isn't holding you back then there is really no reason to spend the money on the camera, spend it on glass, you will get much more from your investment, imo.
