Brad, I have currently a system like yours but I would like to search better than just folder names for images...

I was using Bridge and switched to Lightroom and it has been great. I too sort incoming files into folders by date, I typically just use year_month, I will add a event name to the end of it for things like vacation photos (2008_06_Bahamas). I make extensive use of keywords. I apply general keywords too all files as part of the importing into LR, I then add more specific keywords as I process the files. With the dated folder and keywords I can find any photo I want in a few seconds.

The other nice thing about Lightroom is that when you import you can have it make a backup at the same time. So my files are going to two drives during the import process. The only thing I am really missing and am working on is off-site storage.

Thank you Moose; I did not know that Lightroom could import w/backup, and general keywords. Good to know!
