As I look through the "magazine" titles I recognize only a few -- am I just out of it and not recognize the titles or did many folks make these up? I thought it had to be a genuine publication.

i had the same feeling you did, i think many were made up, but remember some may be a local only publication and not available out side a certain geographic area.
there are some great photos in this one

Probably lots of people just looked through their week's photos and tried to find a magazine that fit. There are lots of magazines out there.
P.S. There isn't a Really Close-up Shots of Dead Bugs Digest. Gosh darn it !!!

there must be a millon and one magazines - I wouldn't expect to know all of them. If in doubt copy and paste the title into google and see. I did that for one that sounded stupid, and to my amazement it was an actual magazine.
Regardless it makes no odds to me - made up or real.

i think it's not likely that someone will recognize all the magazines that are published in every country represented here at DPC. not to mention, all the specialty magazines.
since i don't have the inclination to research every magazine, i'm voting as if all the titles are legitimate.

I would also suggest you try a google if you doubt one. I know mine is 'real', but don't know if you ever heard of it. |

My biggest surprise is seeing how many shots were submitted in landscape format instead of portrait format. Most magazines are printed in portrait format, right?
Calendar shots would have been the opposite
