I am trying to decide betweek the Canon EF 24-70mm F2.8L USM SLR Lens,
and the Tamron AF 28-75mm F2.8 XR Di SLR Lens. Does anyone have an opinion on either of the lenses, or both? I am sure the Canon is far superior in construction, but is it worth the cash? I am shooting mostly portraiture right now.
Thanks. |

If you are shooting mostly portaits, have you considered a fixed focal length lens, like maybe the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4? That is a seriously sharp piece of glass for only about $300. Not as versatile as the 24-70 for sure, but also not nearly as expensive.
Just a thought - I can't really speak to the other two lenses, I have not had a chance to try them. |

You might want to check out this thread. Some great advice was given. I'd particularly listen to Gary (kiwiness).

If you are shooting portraits, you should look at a 50mm and a 85mm primes.
I considered the 24-70mm F2.8 L, but it's just so damn expensive. Heavy too.
