i found this lilly-like flower in the yard by itself shooting out of the grass er,well weeds, anyways i dug it up and stuck it in a makeshift pot and it since has bloomed again every year around the same time, theres probably at least four of them here and there scattered around the yard, would love to know what it is,any help identifying this bloom would be appreciated, the grass seems to be the mother-plant but not positive. the flower-shoot comes from beside the grass center like a lilly bloom, any flower experts around today? oh and btw i live on the florida panhandle if that helps to regionalize it more somehow, thnx, heres this mornings pix, i posted it here as im interested in the name of the flower and not so much the images i made of the flowers

It kind of looks like bloodroot, it's not far from the top. There's also a pinkroot close to halfway down the page. Yours looks like it may have a touch of purple, could be pink, on the petals, but that could because I've only had one cup of coffee!

thanks for the link,it seems hard to find any amount of images to accurately run thru and find a match, definitely not a bloodroot though, and yes there is some purpley-pink on the tips,hmmmmmmm....the search continues

no i dont think so,mabe i shouldnt say lily,i also believe this blossom to close at night, both the leaves and stem have a fairly rubbery feel to it,ill try some different angled shots, mabe thatll help...brb

When I first saw this I thought it was one of the "fake" asiatic lillies, but the new shots show me that it isn't- and the naughty bits appear all wrong for a true lilly.

Unfortunately I am at the office and my botanist wife is at home. I will show her the pics later today though. Maybe she can help.

Just looked at this on a better monitor, it may be in the lily family.

i had a few good leads but no positive/definitive identifications yet,the closest ive seen would be the hurricane lily and it has different markings :(
