Here̢۪s my dilemma. Over the last few months I have been shooting my boys baseball games and the parents are eating it up. Well one of the dads races motorcycles and just picked up a few sponsors, Red Bull being one of them and they wanted some shots of him, the bike and the new logos on the bike. He asked if I could do it and I told him I would love too. I mean after all it would help me get my name out there even more and maybe get me in to pro-sports. He asked me if I was a licensed photographer... I said no and apparently he can only have a licensed photographer shoot his pictures.
Does anyone know what this means??? Are they talking about me being a member of the PPA, or is that something different?

Perhaps he is asking if you have a business license. You can get that for next to nothing from your local courthouse or similar. He also might be asking if your insured.... I would ask him to clarify as there is no "licensed photographer" status in the US.

In Ohio it looks like the Pro Photog of Ohio organization offers a Certified Professional Photographers license. I don't think its any legal credential but more of a title to show that you are of a quality that is accepted by the state organization. |

Licences photographer??? is that like a licence to kill? (well shoot anyway). I've never heard of one so you really should clarify what he's looking for. |

Licensed implies a state approval. Certified or similar is by some organization. Perhaps the dad mis understood what was needed?
This sounds more commercial than portrait, so PPA would not be the umbrella org for that anyway.
Perhaps they wanted you to be a 'real' business, insured, etc for their protection (RedBull) as much as anything else.

Perhaps they need you to be a legit business so that you can submit a proper invoice for them to pay? |
