...now how shall I spend it? :D
My thoughts right now are on:
A) 10,000 lottery tickets
B) A new camera, a couple lenses, a vacation to Hawaii, and of course paying bills.
I think I'm leaning towards B. But my main question is, what camera should I buy? I definitely want a canon EOS but which one? Also imput on some good lenses would be helpful, probably macro, telephoto, wide angle, etc. Oh also any underwater cameras/casings too.
If you're wondering how I won it was a radio call-in contest. All I had to do was be the 105th nation-wide caller and I won the money. Of course that's (slightly) easier said than done, I was calling from April 1st thru the 24th (the day I won) at least 4 times a day on 2 phones at the same time. Anyhoo, I would have told you all sooner but I wanted to wait til I actually had the check in my hand. Oh and here's a couple of fun overprocessed pics :)

That is seriously good news!! Things like that dont happen every day. Sounds like you were determined, though.
Definitely, go out and get a new camera, some lenses, and a flash......indulge yourself.......you deserve it. |

Congrats! Love the pics! Have fun with the money. My suggestions are of no use as I seem to feel people spend the money they have on the things they already want and only ask for suggestions to get validation. So enjoy! |

hmm, I'm still a cheapskate at heart. Is the 5D really that much better that the 40D? If so let me know why cuz the 40D's price is a lot more appealing. However $1,900 seems to be a really good deal. Talk me out of my old $ pinching ways!

It depends upon your needs. The wide angle of a 5D can be matched on a 40D with a 10-22 lens (at pretty much the same price as a 5D alone), but matching the telephoto end of a 40D with a full frame camera would cost you [another] fortune. The 5D offers slightly better noise performance, a shallower DOF and a bit more resolution, but otherwise I think the 40D wins hands down with faster performance, live view, some weather sealing, dust removal, etc.
FWIW, I probably called in 20 or 30 times for the same contest, but never got through. |
