I recently moved from Elements to CS3 and am still learning how to do things. One thing I haven't figured out is the equivalent function to the "Selection Brush Tool". If it exists in CS3, I haven't found it. I didnt' see it in help, so I'm guessing the function is performed differently.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I"m not familiar with Elements, but after googling that tool, it sounds the same as "Quickmask".
I'd be happy to try and help if further help is needed.

Near the top of the tools pallet, there is a magic wand. If you click on the lower right corner where there is a little black triangle, you will see a quick selection tool. I think that may be what you are looking for.

I also think quick mask is the closest thing. Press the "q" key to enter quick mask mode, select the brush tool, and paint with foreground color set to black to mask an area. Press "q" again to exit quick mask mode and what you've painted is now deselected. If you wanted that area selected, use Select>Inverse from the menu.

there is a QUICK SELECTION TOOL (third from top on the side toolbar) that is also in the MAGIC WAND (w on the keyboard) that starts selecting an area and refinable by going to smaller and smaller brushes and higher magnification.

Beetle and Kirbic win the prize. Its Quick Mask. I was looking for it to refine the selection made using Quick Selection.

Thanks to all.

You're welcome, and have fun.
I was glad when I finally discovered (and dared to try out) Quick Mask.
An odd concept at first, but ever so useful!
