Original Edited Version

------------------------------------------------

I was asked to take a picture of the Phenix City, AL. side of the riverwalk that runs along the Chattahoochee River. The section I was asked to take was the wooden bridge area. Before I submit the photograph I would like to ask your opinion on the finished photograph. I have posted the original raw file (unedited) and the edited file. As you can see I had to clone out power lines, large power poll, a fence, and a car. I also had to light the lamps that were not working.

They want the picture to look as if the wood bridge area of the river walk takes you over wetland. It does if the river rises but also has stairs that lead down when the river levels are low. I took the picture in the late evening so the sun would be shinning on the trees to the left.

If you have time – your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

SC - could you add "ed" to the word "need" in the title. Error on my part.
Thanks

I'd never have guessed you'd cloned if I couldn't see the original. :)
Nitpick; the lamp that was originally the brightest is now not as bright as any of the others.
Nice job, though!

Very nice job. Really like the finish.

The edit is very good with just some minor adjustments that have already been suggested. If this is a potential client with opportunity to sell more photos, I would suggest going in with some shots with different angles and vantage points and let them decide which is best. I am sure you were going to do that. It just makes you look more thorough and professional. If you have already done that then disregard my message. Good luck!

left you a comment.

I would be interested to see if a higher vantage point looking down would look any better or not.

Thanks everyone for your critique and comments, they help a lot. It is for a client and I do have some more shots but again it was on a overcast day. If today has a better sky (giving more light) I may do a re-shoot since I have time before letting them see it. I will take all of your comments and apply. As soon as I get the shot and edit I will post.

Again thanks for taking the time to comment and critique. It helped a lot.

you can always fake the sky ya know :)

If you have another one from a different picture that might work, it could be quicker than waiting for it to come along by itself.

Hi Scott, left you another comment, although I probably didn't say much that hasn't been said already. It will be interesting to see the final result, and let us know how it goes with the client.

In spite of the normal preference for bright sun, I like the atmosphere/ambiance with the clouds. I think it's a very nice piece of work.

Good luck!

awesome editing....the first shot was just an everyday ordinary shot and you turned it into something i cant even explain with words, beautiful!

I love the second shot, completely different feeling from the original. The only thing I would maybe address is touching up the lamps in photoshop to make them all the same brightness

Thanks everyone

I took the advice given and went back today do a re-shoot but with a higher POV and different angles. So far I haven't downloaded and looked at them but maybe I will have something to work with. The only problem was the gray sky. I may be able to do something with that in Photoshop. I will post the new edited picture (taking in account all the great advice all of you have given) and post when complete.

Again thanks everyone. I really was not expecting this many replies and great critiques when I posted but all of you came through and gave me some great advice that me picture the scene differently. If I had a helpful button to check in the thread, I would check each and every post.

Thanks,
Scott
