I've checked my lens front and filter, and my sensor and see no dust, yet I am getting some dust spots in certain shots. I looked through my lens and it looks like someone emptied a pocket full of dust and hair in there.

It is my 18-200mm lens. I've heard mixed reports on how severe having dust in the lens is, that it usually does not show up. I might have missed something on the sensor and I will recheck that.

However my question is; Is there something I can do to remove dust from inside my lens?

I obviously cannot keep it from getting in there however I cannot imagine it not effecting image quality after a while and I know how voters can be about the smallest speck here :P

Thanks much!

It probably won't show up at all. If you use a really small aperture on a sunny day, you might see some faint fuzzy shapes (which you could clone out even in Basic Editing), but the front lens elements are so far out of the focal plane that it's unlikely.

As an example of how little difference it makes, every once in a while I'll be looking through my telescope and someone will put their hand or head in front of the 8" lens, but all it does is make the image darker. Otherwise you would have no idea anything was obstructing the glass.

So if it IS the lens, and it is noticable as black dots, or slightly blurred black dots then it is either on the sensor or near the rear or on the real element. Yes?
