Help Help Help. It 'just arrived the flash metz 36c2 I compared and I can not make it work. I inserted the flash contact warm, lit the camera and I was expecting to shot but no! The flash tells me that is ready but I do not see the symbol of flash active and certainly not shoot the flash! obviously if the shutter button so the lightning ago. Second question that serves the cable that came along with flash? and how can I use?
thanks to whom I will remove the doubts

What are the settings at your camera and at the flash?

The cable can be connected at the side of your camera for off camera flash.

canon cameras can fire a 'generic' flash without eTTL or a canon-compatible flash in eTTL. Metz makes flashes for ALL cameras, so for it to work in canon's eTTL mode you MUST have the canon version of the metz flash. Do you?
If you bought it new you should be fine on programming, but if you bought it used is may not be compatible with canon's eTTL-2 which your camera has. Canon used to offer eTTL (1) back in the 300D/20D days and they are NOT the same and the older programming on a Metz WILL NOT talk/work with the newer canon. Call Bogen in new jersey and ask them about it - the flash will me labeled with the what programming it has installed. The update should be free, you just have to mail the unit to them in NJ and pay postage one way - takes a week or so total.

other than that, make sure the flash batts are good, the hotshoe contacts are clean, and READ THE MANUAL for the flash.
