I need to print a border on headshots, but the printer only does borderless.

So what's the standard border for an 8x10? .25 per side and top (e.g., actual print area 7.5 x 10.5)?

Sorry for the stupid question, but I need to know!

I don't know personally but I just googled a few places and most say allow 1/4 border around an 8x10. Here is what one site said:

8x10" Picture Frame
Outside Frame Dimensions: 8 7/8" wide x 10 7/8" high
Viewable Picture Area: 7 1/4" wide x 9 3/8" high
allow for a 1/4" border around your 8" x 10" graphic)

I don't know if this helps, but it does look like a 1/4 maybe standard on an 8x10".

1/4" should work fine. You can crop 1/4" off the photo then do canvas size in photoshop adding a quarter of an inch. Hope this helps! Lynn

Would it not be easier to just resize the photo to 7.75 and 9.75 and then add the .25 boarder? That way you will not be losing any of the photo..

Yes, you always lose some of the photo because the aspect ratio on the inside will change if you want it to be the same as it initially was.
