I have a Bogen/Manfrotto 3625 Pistol Grip Ball head that seems to be getting increasingly wobbly. I have tightened everything as much as possible, but it can no longer hold my camera steady for macro work. It slowly (and sometimes not so slowly) slips out of position if the camera is in any position except right on top. Is this something that happens over time --- or does it need repair? Or maybe there is something I can be adjusting or doing myself that will help...? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is the locking mechanism for that tripod a twist handle or screw-knobs?

I don't have that particular model, but I do have the Bogen/Manfrotto 322RC pistol grip ball head. Assuming that it's similar. But there should be a way to tighten the friction that holds onto the ball. On mine, it's a wheel that you use to tighten the friction. You likely have something similar. Hope this helps.

Thank you both. I do have a little wheel also --- and thought I had already tightened it a bunch. Not apparently enough though. I turned it almost 20 times just now and all seems to be working again. Thanks for your help.
