I'm getting this used from my local camera shop for only $800!!! Yay me! He had another L-lens in there I wanted more, but someone walked in and bought it while I was standing there talking to him.

| I don't have a mark II camera, so what do I care? I am 100% sure that it is 16-35mm f/2.8L. I think it has the II in there too. I need to drop off some money at the camera store when I go into town today anyway, so I'll ask to see the box again. |

It's msot likely the Mark I version. Highly unlikely that the 16-35 Mark II even 2nd hand would go for $800. It's a great price for the 16-35 Mark I though, very good price. Great lens.

The mark 1 and the mark 2 are 2 different lenses. Based on what I've read, the mark 1 is less sharp than the 17-40L, but the mark 2 is among canon's finest lenses. It's a great price, even for the mark 1, but there's a difference between the two lenses.

It's the Mark I, but I'm still happy to be getting it for that price since I don't generally have $1000+ for L-glass. I was looking at some other Canon wide angle lenses, but none of them were as fast as this one or L-quality.
I thought about getting this one instead, but everyone is always telling me get L-glass and this is fixed focal length.
