Take a picture of a subject that’s never been seen on dpchallenge.com before! No pics of the London Eye, the Golden Gate Bridge, or the interior of a gothic cathedral or state capitol. Cute kids, dogs, cats, flowers, sunsets, water drops, bug macros, and the like beware – if it ain’t different, its DNMC!

Or, if you like, use the title for a Monty Python challenge. Silly walks, holy grails, spam. Whatever you want.

To some extent, almost everything has been done before, and it woudl be tough to cover it all. I was kind of thinking along the same lines, of having a cliche-free challenge. We've actually been moving a little in that direction with challenges like Macro with no bugs or flowers.

Over on Worth1000, which is more oriented to photoshopping (though they do have photography contests) they have a cliche list:

Annoying, overused entries (cliches)

* Your entry contains Britney Spears.
* Your entry contains President George W. Bush.
* Your entry contains scantily clad women (i.e. in bikinis) for no practical reason.
* Your entry contains Star Wars references.
* Your entry contains the Statue of Liberty.
* Your entry contains the World Trade Center buildings.
* Your entry contains Adolf Hitler, or Nazi references.
* Your entry contains Osama Bin Laden or terrorist references.

I think we would have an extensive cliche list that could potentially result in empty challenges.
-Drop shots
-Splash shots
-water droplets
-wideangle landscapes with swoopy clouds
-wine glasses that bend light
-models
-flowers
-bugs
-dilapidated buildings

These are a few items off the top of my head, but I'm sure this list could be fairly extensive.

So either we get to comb thru' 10's of thousands of entries to make sure we MC or we can be sure that someone DID and WILL DNMC like mad! :)

well, normally I don't like shots with cats(but this is a great photo where the subject isn't the cat but the inversion of the conventions about alien and this is a great idea), I am annoying to see always the same buildings with the same reflections. probably the only way for obtain something of new is rate down if the shot have conventional subjects. At the same time a more high evaluation for photo with a great idea even if the technical aspect isn't perfect!
