Last week I attached my tripod thingie from the 141RC tripod-head (3 knobs) to my Hasselblad. The hole in the HB is twisted, but I managed to have the thing safe and steady so I could use it.

After using it I got it off of the HB, and the thingie just kinda fell apart.

Usually the screw stayed in the thing, but now I can only use it the not so handy way.

Could someone please post a photo or describe hoe this thing works? I can't seem to figure it out.

PS: this has to be the most weirdest post I've ever made, but I have no clue of the name of the thing and hoe to explain it better.. I hope somebody can help me!

It looks to me the clip (the part that looks like a C) is worn. That would be the part that holds the mounting screw in place.
I̢۪m guessing the placing is mounting screw, washer (looks like a O) tripod mount, snap the clip lower than the threads of the screw. If the clip does not snap in place, you might need a replacement from the manufacturer.

You could probably pick up a replacement quick release plate at a local camera shop. Failing that B&H carries them as well.

As you have it pictures:

-Put round washer (middle piece) first
-Put screw with handle (bottom piece)
-Flip everything over and put on the "c" clip (top piece). You may have to screw it on. Then you something to clamp it if the "C" clip is stretched out.

I use the RC2 version and it looks similar.

You might need to hammer on the washer and C-clip to flatten them back out. Any major hardware store should have the pieces if you need new ones.

I've had to use a pair of pliers to tighten the c-clip before, after I mangled it getting it off of a homemade piece of gear. The metal on the c-clip is really soft. You might be able to tighten it with your fingers.

If the C clip is worn, you could try to crimp it a little with a pliers or you can get one of those C clips at any hardware store. The screw itself goes up through the bottom of the plate. Then the washer goes over the screw on top of the plate, the C clip holds them all in place.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm gonna try and fix it, otherwise order a new one and use this one for the HB :D

Im looking at mine right now, just like was mentioned, take the screw part, put the washer over it, slide the screw back through the base plate, then push the C clip over the screw just at the base of the threads... if the C clip comes off easily again as mentioned you can get them at any hardware and or auto parts stores...

I can prob take a quick pic for you if you need to see,

Heres the order that mine is assembled, kinda a very rough exploded view ;)

Thank you so much!!!

I tried this, the #4 is a bit too big to stay screwed at the #1. I'm gonna try somehow to make it a bit tighter tomorrow (it's late here ;))

Bit redundant after David's excellent example, but worth it for the exercise...

This is not Manfrotto, but a cheap and generic alternative.

The screw doesn't have a separate washer, just an integral collar. This is inferior, but handy if you're dropping things on the carpet :)

I must get prizes for this photo...

What I wanted to illustrate here, is that the jaws of the spring clip are just a little narrower than the shaft of the screw, so it sort of doesn't want to go on. I think you've already worked that out.

Some gentle persuasion is in order...

But it's no good doing all that with the screw out of its hole, so pop it in...

and clip it on, so you then have a retained screw that turns freely.

These little spring clips are used all over the place. You shouldn't have much trouble begging, borrowing (or even buying?) one.
