What would be considered some of the most prestigious photography competitions in the world? And, as a follow up, has anyone that participates in DPC competed in them. |

Well, the Picture Of The Year International results were just released a couple weeks ago. It has been around for at least 50 years, and I'd guess it is probably a pretty prestigious competition to win, especially since the 2004 competition had "nearly 26,000 photographs ... from more than 25 countries." |

A very respectable and prestigious contest.
However, I have to expose my criticism regarding one very contrasting aspect: the prize is named "International" but the jury comes fully from the same country (guess which one). No doubts about their great competence but to judge is also a matter of sensibility and culture.
If they want to use the attribute International properly then they should definitely consider this point.
