It actually turned out to be a good thing we missed it. Around 6pm we found out our baby-sitter's son has a bad respiratory illness. So we had to do a mad scramble searching Craigslist for a new baby-sitter.

(Confesses, the real reason I didn't go is that I was pouting cause I haven't ordered my 40D yet. But will in about a week or two. That and my wife refused to go saying that having hiked Ricketts Glen last year while nearly 7 months pregnant. Hiking it this year would just be too easy and boring.) *LOL* |

I was experimenting with hooking the GPS up to the D300, and I put a file together if you want to see the result. I'm confident that much of it came out correctly, but I am a little uncertain about whether this file is properly showing where we ate the picnic, for some weird reason. I haven't tinkered with this too much, but thought this would be a good opportunity to try it. I added the Geotagged files to Picasa, and exported it to this Google Earth file:
Rickett's Glen KMZ file
Anyway, give it a try... I'll be curious to see if it works. It should zoom to Rickett's Glen, and show thumbnails where various shots were taken. You can click the thumbnails to expand to a little bigger image.
EDIT: Seems like Picasa is putting a few of the shots in weird places. I'll have to play with it more to see what the deal is.

Uh......that'd be me.
I'd love to pay you whatever costs to drop the stuff in a box and send it.
I'm outside Carlisle, Pa, so depending where you live..... |
How do I know it's yours? Let's see... If it's your watch what time is on it?
PM me with a mailing address
How much should I insure the hat and bandanna for?
No payment necessary, just give me a 10 on the next freestudy. Of course, you won't know which one is mine so you'll have to give everyone a 10. |

And dangit, Mike, I totally forgot to grab a couple bagels from you before I left. I feel bad that you showed up with all those bagels after everyone had pigged out on the pastries. And I've never had a real New York bagel before. I'm sure it beats the snot out of the ones we get from Panera here. |

I think my posts are going to have to wait a bit. Last night I uploaded and then formatted the card. This morning my computer wouldnt boot. Tried again tonite and the drive is making a sporadic clicking noise.
Of course I havent backed up in a month or so, so there is a possibility that my last months pix are gone unless I want to send it out for some expensive recovery. I will try slaving it first, maybe I get lucky but I wont have time to do that til the weekend. Of course my 70-200L arrived today, so all in all a mixed bag of a day. |

I probably won't have a chance to post pics until Wednesday due to work, but at least my computer is intact. Good luck with that, Mike. |

Here's mine from the day. It was my first time out in the field with the little G9 and I have to say that, in addition to being a lot lighter than my 30D + lenses, it performed really well.

Mandy and I had a great time! It's always a blast to get to shoot with you guys and was well worth hiking in the heat. I'll be looking forward to next year (or sooner)!

Thanks to everyone who braved the heat to shoot with us. I had a great time and my friend Diane did as well. The cook out and general camaraderie is what makes this type of gathering so much fun. Thanks especially to Eric Stiger who organized everything. Without his efforts this GTG wouldn't have been possible.

I had a great time. And I think everyone seemed to really enjoy the day (except Brandi's boyfriend). Next year we should plan for the fall and hope to catch the leaves changing. And maybe it won't be so freakishly hot later in the year. |

Just a few to start, have to make sure I don't have that blue ribbon free study winner, lol.
I had such a good time, can't wait for the next one! And thanks to scooter97 & NikonJeb for cooking! And to Alan's wife your brownies were incredible once again!!

A little late posting, but some good stuff for show n' tell. This was a great GTG despite the weather! Many more shots in the gallery folder...

Nice work Shannon. Well worth the wait. It would be nice however if you could put your vast PS skills to work making us all look younger, thinner and better looking! ;) |
