I will prob stay over. Looking at Wilkes Barre area. I figured out why the Motels 6 and 8 are getting a C note - the Pocono Nascar race is this weekend. Ugh, just what I need, being surrounded in a motel by a bunch of pickup truck driving rednecks - drunk no less.

You can't get any closer or cheaper than Rickett's Glen Hotel. Alan ~~Fink~~ Freed swiped room #2, and I nabbed room #1. It's not exactly the Waldorf, but it's a good place to crash and have dinner.

Lordy. Me thinks we need to call them again this year to straighten things out. When I called last week, I purposely was booking Room 1 because I thought it was only fair to let you have the better room this time since they had booked us both for Room 2 (full bath) last year. So I supposedly booked Room 1.

Now you're saying that you are also booked for Room 1 this year, just like we were both booked for Room 2 last year. Apparently, booking rooms is a very confusing task for these folks.

In any case, I didn't book Room 2, or at least certainly not on purpose!

I just called them... they did indeed have us both booked in the same room... AGAIN. I told him to give you Room 1 as you had booked, and I'll be in Room 4. Yeesh.

EDITING to add that the luxurious Room 2 had already been booked by someone else, probably by multiple someone elses.

Don't be too hard on them... six rooms requires more than one hand to figure out and the guy's using his other hand to hold the phone. ;-)

I also have Verizon, and I did get some spotty service here and there. It worked well enough to get a call from Nikolai as he was getting near, as I recall. But yeah, the service is terrible there.

I just got room 3 at the ricketts motel and the people on the other end of the phone sound a little dim. I will indeed bring my tent.

I just called the Central Park Hotel, it's a little place not far from Rickett's (maybe 10-15 minutes) they have rooms available, most of them run right around $65, she said there's rooms upstairs that are as she said "a little more rustic, with a shared bathroom" that are cheaper. If anyone's still looking for a room closer than Wilkes-Barre, here's the number: 570-925-6650
