Where: Ricketts Glen State Park
When: Sunday, June 8th - 10:00 AM
Initial meeting at Visitor Center just off of 487.
Come one, come all, for a grand ol' time in the Pennsylvania Mountains. You won't wanna miss this one. There will fun, food, photographers, 22 waterfalls, alanfreed's wife's famous brownies, the comedic rantings of NikonJeb...and while nothing is set in stone yet, management is negotiating with scalvert to see if he'll run his highly rated seminar "How to build a state park in your spare bedroom, get the perfect photo, submit it minutes before the deadline and ultimately win the blue ribbon."
Last year's GTG Thread
According to the website, it looks like the Lake Rose Road parking lot is currently closed, so we'll get parking and picnic info up as it gets closer to the GTG date. But the current plan is to have the picnic and main parking up top near Lake Jean. We'll work our way down the trails and there will be some cars parked at the base of the trails (RT 118 Trailhead Parking Lot) to drive people back up to the top when we're done.

Count me in, and I'll be bringing my girlfriend. And I'll bring some chips and napkins again, for the picnic.

Does anyone know if this park has backcountry camping or just the site/"KOA" camping?
It's 3+ hours for me each way so it might be cool to come the day before. |

The Saj intends to return possibly with wife and his new uber-gorgeous 9 month old (see). Who absolutely loves splashing in water.
We've got a couple of amateur photographers at work. So I was thinking of inviting them as well, in the interest of introducing them to DPC.
Would anyone be bothered if I brought 1-2 friends as well?

Also, just wanted to chime in that I like the idea of starting at the top and working our way down.
I think we should title the NE PA GTG '08 theme as "Top Down"
:) |

So long as they're young, hot women, I'm fine with it. |

I have a new name for this event. Since this will in fact be the second one but hopefully not the last.
I say we call this the "2nd Annual NEPA GTG" (pronounced Nee-pah)

Please count me in for this! I saw the earlier thread for May's GTG but didn't notice this one until this morning.
I can bring whatever is needed. My wife and/or daughter and/or son might be coming with me. I can't get commitments out of anyone. |

Mark me as a maybe, until I firm up my work travel schedule.
So far I've signed up for a couple of these and for one reason or another I never can make it.
So barring any work related travel, I'm going to make this GTG. |

Hello folks. Just keeping the interest alive in this thread. A poll to determine the favorite links of you lot. Hot dogs, hot sausage, Italian sausage, kielbasa, brats (or any other kind of wursts)? And lets not forget about the rolls and condiments. It looks like we may not get anyone to bring burgers so we may as well make it the best damn link cook out ever!! :) You all should be having lots of cook out grub this weekend so you will have plenty of ideas.

Are the links mutually exclusive? Is mixing incestuous?
Maybe Brent odysseyf22could carry the burgers. Why is it the youngest guy carries the lightest stuff? Chips and Napkins - don't want to overload the pack.
On a more serious note, is something big happening that weekend in the Scranton area? I checked hotels.com and even the super 8 is getting north of a Franklin for Sat nite. I was thinking about coming in the night before to avoid a long drive that morning |

haha, I'm taking such abuse about this, so I'll man up and bring burgers too! Although I'm not sure where I'll be carrying them, since it looked to me like we're planning on picnicing at the top of the trails, by Lake Jean. So I guess I'll shoulder the load from the parking lot to the grill ;-)
Can I get a shout out from people who think they'll want a burger? I don't want to end up buying twice what we need, if I can avoid it.
