Is there an accessory or other method that I can use to trigger the camera without me being behind it? It doesn't matter if there's a wire or something.

Not sure about your camera, but there is cable or infrared remote.

The Olympus 750 comes supplied with an infrared remote - a very useful bit of kit.

There is a wired remote that works on the 717... I'll see if I can dig something up.

Try B&H camera they have Sony wired remote controls at a
discounted price, I just ordered one for my Sony 828, $10 cheaper than Sony.

I wish I could get the cheaper deal, but the cost of postage from America to England is over $25, or about £15. I suppose one might appear on ebay one day.
