Not intended to start a debate about global warming.
Climate Counts Website.
If you click on electronics, you'll see that Canon has the best rating of electronics companies trying to reduce their carbon footprint.

I really don't quite know what to think about this organization. It apparently is a website run and funded by a food producer (Stonybrook Farm). While their motives may be altruistic, I'd take a very skeptical view of their ratings. From what I can tell, their ratings are based entirely on scouring published information for indications of corporate policy and actions. They in no way reflect a detailed study of the actions of the rated companies. |

I was thinking along those lines too. It looks like companies only have to publish some environmentalist-friendly documents to score well with this we site. There's no actual measure of carbon footprint taken into consideration. There's also no analysis of the quality of the published information or assessment of their actual progress towards better environmental practices. It seems to only measure's corporate lip service pandering to environmentalists (which should barely get a company like microsoft out of the starting block to use their icons). |

Everyone knows that Canon uses over 1000 gallons of oil producing each camera, whereas Nikon recycles used tires and metal to make their cameras. ;)
