They just sent me an email letting me know I'll have a press pass!! This means I'll get to go up in one of the flights with them for pictures! Has anyone ever shot something like this? What should I do in the airplane?? 14mm, 16-35mm???

Hey Tom, congrats on the pass!

I haven't been to the event myself but am planning to go to the next UK Red Bull Air Race and have already been in touch with them about press passes :o) I'm sorry I can't answer your questions but I'll certainly be looking out for your pictures when you get back!! :o)

All the best,

Natalya :o)

Have a barf bag handy! As for photos, I think the 16-35 would be more versatile, although 14mm shots inside the cockpit would be awesome too! I was just wathcing the commercial before I read your post, should be awesome! Congrats on the pass!

Haha - TWO barf bags is more like it. So I should shoot wide? Will there be cray reflections from the canopy?

We got a guy in the SD dSLR photo group that shoots for military flight rags, looks like he got to go up in a bi-plane //www.sandiegodslr.com/?q=node/274

Any San Daggers going to be downton today (duh)? Where you shooting from? Anyone on the Hornblower brunch cruise (sea/air parade) before the show?

I don't know why they left the San Francisco Fleet Week festival? Maybe the weather? Taken in 2006:

Couple more.

Don't shoot wide, try to make sure everything goes into that brown bag, otherwise that canopy will be reflecting more!! :)

Enjoy it, widest will look really cool. Have fun:)
