I entered the off the page expectation challenge with my, "Roasted Chestnuts Yummy! Ouch!'
I got hammered as I came 16th 3.804

The reason I took a photo' of the prickly chestnuts on the tree is with the expectation of roasting them later a lot of people like roasting chestnuts, so it was an off the page expectation and was obvious to me so why did other people have trouble with this.
I even gave a little hint of what was to come by showing just a tiny bit of the chestnut.
Don't people eat chestnuts? Or am I alone in this?
I am not angry I didnt place well but to me it DID fit the challenge.
I got my record number of 1's LOL!

I think the key here was to suggest something just outside the frame, so if you panned the camera you'd see it. Your shot was more of an "off-screen, down the road, and in the oven sometime later" concept. A good shot for "future expectation" maybe, but not "off screen."

If it helps any, I scored the lowest of any challenge i have entered so far. And just to make matters worse, the top 10 finishers, I think I scored only 2 of them higher than 5, and one at 3! So apparently I had (have) no comprehension of what was going on. Perhaps more beer, less beer or a different brand of beer. I am doing much better with parallel lines, but it is way early yet. Seems to be a much tougher contest - 98% of the pics meet the challenge, and the other 2% are very close too. I think I gave only 1 or 2 votes below 4, and almost all are 5s. Tough to vote. will go back and review and perhaps change things in a few days.
