I saw a Red Rock GTG thread so I hope some DPC’ers can offer some adviceâ€Â¦

I’m going to Las Vegas next week for business meetings. One afternoon there is an organized activity – a Jeep Tour of Red Rock. Anybody familiar with the this tour? Is it any good? Anything in particular to look for at Red Rock?

I’m told there will be stops along the tour where you can take pictures, but it will from 1pm to 5 pm so I’m expecting harsh light. Will a polarizer or ND filter help my D80 with 16-85vr? Any reason to bring my 70-300vr – I’m thinking to leave it home as I would prefer to travel light.

Thanks

Any thoughts from the evening crowd?

I haven't done a jeep tour, we had our own car.

Afternoon light was less than ideal, but pretty clouds and fabulous rock colours made up for it.
I don't think I used my zoom lens at all, but I would hate to not have it with me...... just in case.
Graduated ND and polarizer are a given in any camera bag, anyway, aren't they?

We saw Bonnie Springs - corny but so much fun. Its a "zoo" of sorts as well as a little western town complete with saloon performance and a "hanging". It was cheesy, but we really enjoyed ourselves.

Just go with the flow.... plenty to see everywhere, and if all else fails, go to Hoover Dam, too.
If you go to other photo sites and search, you'll get tons of ideas and inspiration from other people's photos.

Have fun, we sure did!

Thanks Karin, I've only had the D80 about a month now - was planning on getting the filters anyway & hoping the use this trip as an excuse for wife to let me get them now ;) I won't have a car so I'll be working 8am to 8pm everyday except for the jeep tour.
