What do you put more premium on? Avg Score or Place/Percentile?
What would you be happier with?
A 5.500 that placed you 100/300 (lower score but higher rank)
OR
A 5.600 that placed you 110/300 (higher score but lower rank)?
I mean it is possible to have two different submissions entered in two different challenges where the lower score actually ranks higher in place and/or percentile. It all depends on the relative strength of all the entries.
So what is more important for you? And by how much?

I usually go by the percentile. |

For me it's the score, so in your example the 5.6 is better than the 5.5. This is because I'm looking to see how good an image I have produced in absolute terms - how good other people do is out of my control and is only of passing interest.
The same is true with my archery - I'm happy if I have shot well, being beaten by people better than me is perfectly acceptable. I have felt embarassed to have shot relatively poorly and still beaten others (it has been a while since this has happened it must be said).

Well now that i think about it.... In the context of a challenge I pay more attention to the percential. After the voting is over and a week has passed I care more about the overall score because your top three images are on you profile and I like trying for a new personal best each time. |
