I'm making a short film for my final university project and am in need of some music! I have a few party scenes which I filmed without music so I could add it in post-production. The problem is that I can't afford any licensed music, so I'm looking for some independent stuff and I thought this would be the perfect place to ask!
Is anyone in a band with some tracks they wouldn't mind me using for free? Of course I'd put song/band details in the end credits. Initially this would be shown in university and hopefully in short film festivals, but there is the possibility of it appearing on Channel 4 in the UK at some time - hopefully at least!
The kind of thing I'm looking for isn't too heavy, not too slow, not too fast. Haha that's not very helpful sorry! As a placeholder I'm currently using Ballroom Blitz so perhaps something along those lines? Ideally I'm looking for 3-4 different tracks from different bands as the party shows events happening over a period of time.

| My band would gladley help out but we are in the studio now and about a month or two away from completion. How many songs do you need? Maybe we could finish what you need first? What style ect. |

Thanks! I just need at minimum 4 or 5 ten second-ish snippets really. First few would be faster-paced light rock kind of thing, then maybe a more mellow few for later on. I was hoping to get the tracks to my editor within the next week or so though.

| Well tis a bit to soon I think for that sadley! We have songs that would work since we do everything from hard rock to soft rock in our song sets. |

//dm-gremlin.com/studio/clients.html has a list of a number of bands the studio has worked with, with web pages where a number of them have audio samples/contact information. If you want to check out some bands, and if you hear something you like, it would be up to you and the band to negotiate use/licensing of their music for your project, whether that would be for financial compensation or in return for the promotional credit.
Hope that helps - there's some great music been made here, and depending upon the band/record label, some might be more interested than others in having their music used for a project in return for credit only.
Feel free to post what you're looking for on the studio's forums as well, //www.dm-gremlin.com/forums , in the recording studio section. Then I can direct bands to your post, rather than sending them here to a photography forum.
I can also create/record music clips tailored to the needs of a project, but that would be work for hire at the studio's rates.
