Just missed the deadline for portrait by seconds, literally! DANG IT!

I was going to do my daughter Ellie but she flaked out on me today and I came up with the brilliant Idea of my son, sleeping. Set it up, shot it, downloaded, picked one and was uploading when the site switched over. I'm going to be mad at Ellie all over again for flaking out on me!

Here's the shot, just curious, how would you have voted and comments?

It's the only time to catch him

Cute little guy. :) I think the white satin is distracting from that cute face. The brightness and shine draw the eye to it instead of the baby.

I think I personally would have preferred this in color, without the satin. PJ's are fine for babies. I probably would have given it a 5. Sorry you missed the deadline.

Don̢۪t feel too bad; I had the same problem with my daughter. I even offered to pay her, but she absolutely refused! The ungrateful brat! My wife declined as well, saying that she was too fat. My son probably would have, but lives a ways away and had other things to do. The only choice I had left was to photograph myself, but I̢۪m too nice to do that to the folks here. Too bad, because portraiture, especially the lighting, is something that I̢۪ve been wanting learn.

Oh sure! Do you know what I went through for those shots of Ellie? She's a hard one to make stop to take shots of as well and I usually have to bribe her as well. But this time she promised me and today was the day we were supposed to do it after the riding lesson. She came flying in the door with Daddy and said, "CAN I GO PLAY WITH RYAN?" I looked at her, sighed and said, "I guess, not like you have anything else to do with ME now is there?" "NOPE! BYE!"

I'll only be mad for about 10 minutes in the morning, make her feel guilty for a bit

When I saw the thumbnails above I thought it was for one image - and I thought it was quite cool (except for the colour/ black white thing) that you'd caught the foreground girl against a tree whilst the other kids played - like she was excluded or something. Quite a strong emotive image.

Except that they are two separate images... still it's a good idea for a new image huh?

:o)

I would like to see more surrounding environment that tells me the little guy is sleeping (not dead). It is kinda creepy as is. Sort of a floating head.

He's a cute kid. It is more engaging to make eye contact with him. Lets see his eyes.

If you want to get him sleeping though... show us the rest of what makes a sleeping baby so comfy. The soft blanket, teddy bear, what not... The place most adults wish they could go back to.

Just an idea. Of course I have not kids so what do I really know?

I was relieved to hear that someone else felt this way! As soon as I saw the photo it gave me an "odd" feeling. The child is beautiful, but it looks like he's asleep sitting upright. There is no context to show that he is actually laying down sleeping, and it does indeed look sort of like a floating head as it is.
