At the beginning of this year I entered a photo in a competition. My first big entry.
Last week the "public's choice" voting started. I checked, but my photo wasn't there.
So how does this usually work? Do the big judges decide first, select their winners and use the rest of the entries for the public's choice?
This is keeping me busy for a couple of days now :P |

It may help if you clarified which competition. Different ones could work different ways - but it wouldn't surprise me if there were some judges reducing the submissions to a manageable number. |

Typically a judge or panel of judges will weed the images down to a manageable number, then post them for public voting if that is a part of the competition. The images the judges have selected for awards will usually be included in the selection visible tot he public, but not identified as winners until the public voting has finished.
