On Saturday I got the opportunity to ride in a Camel Race. Much to the shock of many people here, I rejected taking a whip....damn, I was so tempted when they handed it to me. But with a bad shoulder I knew I would need to take the brunt of the movement with my good shoulder. The last time I rode a camel was when I was a bout 7....and that was a slow walk around a circle. So this was something quite bizarre. They wanted me to ride the largest camel, wearing the pink rug....but as I had seen him in all his previous races hug the rails and head for the building (one guy was yelling SH*T SH*T SH*T when it looked like they were going to collide with the building), there was no way I wanted to risk a collision on him. So they gave me the fastest of the camels who was wearing the blue saddle rug.

They led us down to the starting line and my camel had a 10 meter handicap. We turned and my camel tried to overtake the pink camel but the pink camel decided to do his norm and head against the rails. Pinning my camel against the rails with it. I kept looking down and waited to be slammed into the metal. Fortunately my camel had no choice but to pull up, turn and restart his race. Leaving us in last place. But I started kicking the crap out of him and we picked up speed and passed the pink camel to come in third...apparently I was very close to the front two when we crossed the finish line.

By the next day my shoulder, back and calves were sore...but no sore butt! Yeeha...I have heard many were covered in large bruises by the next day...and I did see one of my fellow riders with bleeding cuts over the insides of his legs. So I was lucky.

We had to dress for the occasion and my gown flew in the wind....the purple meringue on the back of a camel...yeah!

Anyways....for those in Canada...you will see me in my race on one of your documentary programs. My race was filmed from the calling box. The crew has said that all the riders will be featured on the program....so keep a look out for the purple meringue with the red hat...lmao!

My kids took a couple of photos of the race...don't laugh too much...I look disgusting!

Thanks Frisca. I have already been put on next years jockey list...and I have dared another DPC member to a camel race against each other...so that should be fun.

Very cool experience and you look great! Glad you had fun and came out unscathed. Love the pics!

Crazy? Perhaps, but probably having fun all the while.

Red headed? Red hair is sooo sexy! :)

Bitch? I don't know you. However, you definitely seem to have a 'presence' and that can certainly be felt through your presence here. And I mean that in the most kindest way.

All I know is that it is a travel documentary program similiar to Australias 'Getaway'.
