Ok, for a couple of days now I have been having the following problems with my computer.
1. When I shutdown my computer after clicking shutdown or restart I get the following box message "Shutdown: DiviceIO Notification". I close box while the time bar is counting down, computer stalls until it appears again. I close box and my computer will turn off or reboot (whichever I requested).
2. A lot of the times when I click start the start button will appear pressed inward but my start window will not appear for around 1 min. This also happens when I goto Start>Settings>Control Panel. When I click on control panel it takes about 1 min for it to appear.
3. My Wireless Internet (secured) is dropping more than the $.
ETA: My compter is connected via cable. My other compters (2) are dropping on the wireless.
4. While on the internet it takes an excessive amount of time to go from page to page.
I have scanned my computer with CA Anti-virus, spyware, adware.
I have scanned my computer with AVG 7 - Free Addition
I have scanned my computer with Kaspersky Anti-Virus, spyware, adware.
No threats found on any of the above programs.
I am running Windows XP Media Edition on a PC
Computer specs
Intel Core 2 CPU
6400 @ 2.13GHz
2.29GHz, 2.00GB of Ram
Radeon X1900 GT
Could someone offer some advice. I don't want to have to reinstall everything and don't want to take to the shop. Hoping for a solution from someone here.
Thanks in advance.
Scott
ETA: I also deleted IE7 thinking something was up with it and went with FireFox. After deleting IE7 I had to restart the computer but IE6 is still installed and It does not show up under Add/Remove programs. It will not let me uninstall it.

Did you install a HP C7280 recently? Netgear WG111v3 wireless adapters cause this same error as well. An Uninstall/Re-install of the software for the device has been known to fix the issues on several occasions. HP printer drivers are usually the culprit more times than not. |

I purchase a HP8180 wireless printer and this did start after installing the printer.

Further reading I find that HP released an update to their drivers that thoroughly screwed up a lot of wireless printers out there. Deals with the Digital Imaging Monitoring software. There may be an update out there on HP for you (not known for being the best at updating their drivers). I would check there first. Complaints seem to be as recent as Feb 08.
Seems the driver/update liked to grab 100% CPU cycles at times that would explain slow internet surfing at least on the machine with the monitor software installed. |

Ok I have uninstalled my printer completely (drivers and programs). I have ditched IE7 for Firefox and at the moment every thing seems to running quick. My other devices on the wireless network (2 computers, 1 Playstation3, 1 Xbox360 elite, and Wii) are running fine and not dropping service. Keeping fingers crossed that it temporarily solved the problem. I don't even get the "DiviceIO notification when I go to shutdown or restart. Now I have to call HP Printer support and see how I can get my wireless printed back online without it screwing up my computer and making the wireless network go down.
Thanks for the help. Any more advice would be welcomed as well.

My experience with wireless printers is that they are more trouble than they're worth. We ended up wiring our wireless printer to a workstation via USB and just sharing it. |

I may have to go that route. So far everything working ok with it uninstalled. |
