Hello all,

I have placed some of my images at
www.pbase.com/mrwu/root and would appreciate it if anyone gets a chance to stop by to look and maybe comment on what you see.

Thanks for looking,

Carlos

Sorry about the double post. I am still figuring out how this works.

I like your landscapes. Very nice. The only suggestion I'd have would be sticking to the "law-of-thirds" in regards to the horizon a little more.... but rules are made to be broken! They are well done.

My brother in law works at Yosemite.... I envy you and him.

The only pics that I would have done differently are the animal pics. Using a more shallow DOF would have separated them off the background. The backgrounds are pretty distracking IMO.

I think you have a lot of raw talent. Keep it up no matter what the bitter DPC critics say (not all of them are bitter... but many are).

I posted a few comments in the Yosemite Park shots. You have a good eye overall to me but the off balance feel in some of the shots, like it's leaning to one side is a bit off putting to me. But otherwise, not bad at all. Play with some of the beach ones in an editing program to really bring out some colors, there are some great shots in there.

The pics overall seem dark, underexposed. Some of them are shots into the sun - not the best angle.

The pug shots - the dark face is difficult to get a good shot of (i have had everal pugs including a black - tough to get good shots) - These you need to spot meter on the dark face or open the aperature 1 or 2 stops.

see //www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/expose-right.shtml for some info on proper exposure using the histogram (may be in your camera or you can see it in any editing program)

Overall not a bad batch of images. I see some real gems in there. I think compositionally some of them are kind of static. Mirror Lake for example may work better as just a shot with the lake and not the base of the mountain. I think that you have a good start here. On a side not, there is no reason to upload 500k files to pbase, you're gonna eat your space real quick. You make want to drop that to 100k.

I have a very bright monitor and most of your shots seem dark. You may need to calibrate you monitor again. Other than that, very good stuff.

Thanks for the great feedback. I appreciate the time everyone took to look at my images regardless of whether you left a comment or not.

Joel...I also envy your brother. I actually toyed with the idea of applying with the park service after I heard an employee talking about his job on one of the shuttles. He was saying he could transfer to any national park in the country. That must be an experience.

I'll check out the luminous website. I have a real problem working with the photo editing programs. I use a variation of PS7, Nikon capture4 and nikon editor that came with nikon view 6. I do all of my editing on my HP laptop. I have calibrated the monitor in the past using the monitor calibration tool in the display control menu. Is that enough?

Thanks again
