Ebay Scam Question? - DPChallenge Forums

Hey Everyone,

I recently bought a 30D on ebay, and the guy shipped me a messed up one (shutter button doesn't work properly), and I finally got around to filing a dispute through Paypal. A few days after raising it to a claim, I get an email, phone call, and ebay message about a $750 coupon that has been given to my ebay account and has a redeemable coupon number. Does anyone know if ebay actually does this, it can only be used on one ebay purchase. I can post a "print screen" of the page if you would like to see it.

The only eBay "messages" that are trustworthy are the ones that show up in your account area when you login to eBay. I've rec'd more "spoofs" than I can count in my regular email, and I report every one to eBay.

As for your question...I'm not familiar with this practice (coupon). I'd contact eBay support directly (you can even access them in a live chat session if needed).

Wow, I'm freaking excited, I just got me a brand new 30d shipped with a 3 year warranty for FREE, yes the coupon was legit, and I just got a 30d in the mail plus I get to keep my old one with the messed up shutter. I'm gonna send it into Canon to repair it, then sell it and make me a nice wad of cash. I'm pretty excited, just had to share.

I just bought a demo Fuji A820 8.3mp P&S (store demo) for $51 US. I like ebay, and always try to use PayPal. I'm happy to hear that they will get involved and get things done if there is ever a need to file a dispute.

It's great that your story ended so happily!

ETA. I bought a used 70-300 D ED Nikkor lens from Hendry's Camera on eBay a while back, and it arrived with the little tab broken off the aperture ring that turns on the tronix in the camera. I contacted them thru eBay messaging mail, and they said to ship it back. A week or 10 days later, a brand new one, complete with the box, warranty and all, arrived in the mail.

Simms isn't the only old buzzard circling. I just let the younger
