Has anyone else been there? Where should I go to get some good shots. I'm told Dunn River Falls is a blast. Will be staying at a Sandals in Montego Bay.

I was going to say Dunn's River Falls, but I guess that's already on the agenda! I'd get a waterproof disposable camera for the falls adventure -- it's a blast (I wouldn't take a good camera along, though!).

I will warn you that the locals are absolutely a pain in the butt. We got off a cruise ship and a taxi driver followed us the whole way to the market to offer us a ride to the market. We were literally across the street from the marketplace, and this guy was still trying to sell us a cab ride, as though we were going to walk all the way back to the port (which was only a matter of a few blocks in the first place) so we could take a cab ride to the spot where we already were.

We found them to be way too aggressive as we got off the ship, trying to braid hair, sell stuff, and so forth. You might want to venture out a bit just to explore, but I'll bet you'll be happier just sticking within the boundaries of the Sandals where you won't be pestered.

I know a few people from work that have been there and they describe just that. If you show you have any money in the market, they swarm you. One woman said that she gave a dollar to one of the kids there and was the worst mistake she could have every made b/c she was surrounded by another 10 kids in less than 2 seconds.

I'm not really concerned with any of that, I will visit the market, but am really interested in getting some good shots down there. I was told to take an inexpensive camera on the Falls and that if the guide asks if you want him to carry it, then let him.

I'd bring a disposable waterproof one along (that's what we did). I assume you know the gist of what you do there? You actually climb the waterfall -- it's a gradual 900 foot climb up it with a lot of other people. It's a blast! We got some decent shots with the el-cheapo camera. You will be drenched, obviously, and it can be tricky depending on which route you take up the falls. There are a few places where there's an easy way and a hard way -- it was fun to try some of the hard spots!

yeah, I was told that you climb the falls and that at points you ahve to wade through chest deep water. I think I'll go ahead and purchase a disposable waterproof one. Thanks!

I fly out of Pittsburgh on Tuesday, so I think I'll have time to get one.
