The data is already there to show these stats for each entry after voting:

Avg (from my favorites)
Avg (ribbon winners)
Avg (non-ribbon winners)
Avg (brown ribbon winners)
Avg (photographers w/ 6+ scoring average)

...and so on and so forth. You could offer as many of these as possible and let the end user decide which if any are displayed via preferences.

Custom Groups

In addition, it would be nice to be able to create custom groups to track averages like those above. For example, say I wanted to create a group called "Still Life Photographers". I could then populate that group with several photographers whom I admire in still life. Now when I enter I can see what kind of impact my entry had on this subset in addition to the impact it had in the popular vote.

One problem I see with custom groups is it might reveal someone's vote if only 1 or 2 photographers within the group vote on your entry. The solution to that would be to require a minimum number of votes per group for each challenge and if it is not met then that group's stats will not be available at the end of the challenge. This would encourage to have more photographers listed in your groups and in turn minimize the problem.

Receiving a comment still holds more value and will continue to do so but when you get so few of them being able to see more of a breakdown of your vote helps fill the gap, IMO.

Come on. It's a fantastic idea. Lets get this done by the end of the day. M'kay.

What will consititute a "ribbon winner?" One or two hit wonders, or the more consistent ribboners, like with four or more? Does at least one have to be blue? Average non-ribbon winners won't tell you much, I don't think. Will probably look a lot like your final overall score. I do like the idea of being able to select a group of say 10 or more to count as "favorites" to see how that score varies from what you end up with.

Those were just suggestions. There could be a "Halley's Comet" ribbon category, that is those who ribbon every 75 years or so. It could also be called the "muckpond" category. :P
