As a newbie I feel compelled to ask the pros for some advice :)

I can't enter this picture as I took it a while ago, but I was curious to know how much leeway I can expect in the voting for the parallel lines challenge (the current comments going on about the off-screen expectation have me scared).

What would you guys think of something like this:

The buildings provide parallel lines..but I'm still curious to know how it would have done in the challenge.

Any feedback appreciated!!!

I suspect you would get alot of comments like Pitsa's... it's not *perfectly obvious* that parallel lines "provide or strengthen the composition", though they are certainly present.
Your perspective for this shot tilts the lines of the buildings together toward the top of the photo, so while they are parallel in real life, they do not appear so in the photo.
The literalists will have a field day.

The parallel lines in this shot aren't strong enough to fit the topic that well. Just look at it and think to yourself if the subject is more focused on "parallel lines" or more focused on "city scape", buildings, windows, etc.

Now, a picture of buildings would work better here if you could shoot just two buildings, looking striaght up or something, which would show just two strong parallel lines. That kinda thing would fit better.
